The Crooked Road Paperback – March 5, 2026

After I published my memoir, Chasing the Elusive Dream, and a book of fiction, The Rest of the Story, I found I really enjoyed the short-story format. These stories address issues that have touched my life, loved ones, close friends, and probably someone you know or love!Life has a way of reaching out and touching us at the most unexpected times, whether through death, illness, or financial hardship, and we don’t get a vote. Our surroundings do the same: homelessness, drug users at the supermarket asking for change, or a meth lab down the street. Once again, we don’t get a vote. How each of us deals with these issues becomes the story of our lives.These pages depict the inhabitants of rural America, interacting, overcoming hardship, and helping others. The characters are regular folks, just like us, who struggle with life every day. Many of the stories unfold in and around the edge of the Mojave Desert in Southern California. Others stretch from the ocean to the Bonneville Salt Flats.
